Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games, the first Highland Games in the town since 1952 and the first half of a Highland Weekend which concluded with the Bicentennial Pipe Band and Highland Dancing Competitions
Helensburgh Round Table held their second annual Real Ale Festival on the May holiday weekend with a two day event featuring fabulous beers and great msuic and food.
A Neopolitan of timber clad pier, landscaped recreation and shielded car parking, a ‘Garden of Eden’, a Royal Festival Hall on Helensburgh Pier, a celebration of the water’s edge, a house of fun and a thought provoking apocalyptic vision of global warming are amongst the winning entries for an open student architectural competition organised by the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland on behalf of Helensburgh and District Civic Society. A HELENSBURGH area couple who lost their precious daughter to cancer joined forces with businessman Greg McCann to organise a fund raising dance on Loch Lomondside. The Dance of Smiles, organised by Gary and Louise Myles and Greg McCann of Peter McCann the Barber in Helensburgh, was held at the Cruin on Loch Lomondside and the Abbey National Bank has pledged to DOUBLE everything that was raised at the dance.
